Oaklees Adoption Story

Oaklee and her birth mother

There isn't alot we can share about Oaklee's adoption story as we want to be respectful of her birth family's privacy. But I will share with you what I can.

At the first of the year of 2010 I started to have feelings that we needed to hurry and get our paperwork done and get approved as soon as possible. I was also having feelings that a baby girl was on her way to us. We worked as fast as we could and were approved the end of April 2010. One evening, the end of June, Bryce, McCoy and I were all outside playing and working on the yard. I had this overwhelming feeling of contentment with my life. I could not have been happier at that moment. The next morning we woke up and received a call saying that we had been chosen and our baby girl was going to be born very soon. We were thrilled and knew that this was our baby girl that we had been waiting for. Oaklee was born a month and a half later and was nine days over due. Her birth mother went in to be induced and ended up needing a c-section. She chose me to be in with her during the c-section. So I had the incredible experience of seeing my baby girl come into this world. Something I never thought would happen with any of our children. I was able to cut her umbellical cord, they wrapped her up and I took her back into see her birth mother. I placed Oaklee's sweet chubby cheeks right up next to her birth mothers cheek and it was a very sweet moment. I then was able to stay in the hospital with Oaklee's birth mother and take care of Oaklee and keep "L" company as she recovered from surgery. We were able to take her home a few days later and she has brought so much joy to us every since.
We have an open adoption with her birth mother, birth father and her birth mother's family. We see them often. They even love our McCoy and they act as though they are his birth family also.
